Travel Itinerary

Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel in San Jose. Accommodation.
DAY 2: SAN JOSE - SAN GERARDO
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to San Gerardo de Dota. Accommodation.
Savegre River is the last biological corridor that connects the Central American Mountain Range with the Pacific, reason why the region is rich for its biodiversity. They inhabit 71 species of endemic flora of the country. In addition, 54% of mammals and 59% of Costa Rican birds live. Large mammals such as jaguars and tapirs still survive in the region. In the region of San Gerardo de Dota, there are about 180 species of birds, especially the quetzal. Various institutions and universities in the United States, Spain, Germany and Costa Rica conduct scientific research in the area.

DAY 3: BIRD WATCHING TOUR
At Savegre, you have the best chance of finding and observing this spectacular bird. The Aztecs believed the Resplendent Quetzal was the representation of Quetzalcóatl, their supreme god. One of our guides will take you to the places where the quetzal feeds on aguacatillos, their favorite fruit. It only needs a few seconds of watching the quetzal to appreciate why it is considered to be the most beautiful species in the American continent. Accommodation.

DAY 4: SAN GERARDO - UVITA
Departure to the South Pacific, Marino Ballena National Park. Accommodation.
DAY 5: CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK TOUR
The Corcovado National Park preserves the last portion of the Tropical Humid Forest of the Meso american Pacific. Its location, its climatic characteristics, the capricious condition of its soils and its topography, make this site the home of an amazing diversity of biological species. It has a flora that adds thousands of species, many of which have a restricted distribution and that have disappeared in other regions, as well as the fauna that stands out because of the diversity of its species, even more so if we consider that a large number figure in the list of those in danger of extinction.
This is a full day tour from 07:30 am to 4:00 pm approximately, leaving Uvita heading to Corcovado in a boat trip of one hour and a half. Once we arrive, we´ll have a snack before the hike, the path we will take it´s called El Pargo trail. The hike takes approximately 2 hours. At the end of this trail, a Picnic-style lunch will be served at the San Pedrillo station and at the end, if the natural conditions (time and weather) allow it, a second walk will be taking place in the trail called La Catarata or Marco Reyes, the return from Corcovado to Uvita begins no later than 2:00 pm, because the weather and sea conditions vary (tides).

DAY 6: WHALES AND DOLPHINS WATCHING TOUR
This tour starts in Uvita, in our meeting point. The certified guide will give you a clear briefing of the tour at the beginning. At our office you can enjoy snacks such as empanadas, coffee and orange juice. A short walk separates us from the beach of the Marino Ballena National Park, where we start our boat tour. Now we begin to discover the area and the animals that live there. We will look out for whales (the chance of seeing them depends on the season), dolphins, various bird species and turtles. Highlights such as The Whale Rock, Playa Ventana with its impressive number of caves and of course the whale tail formation will also be part of this fascinating boat tour. While exploring the national park, you will have the opportunity to swim in the ocean or, depending on the water and weather conditions, snorkel. During the tour you can refresh yourself with fruit and water. After the excursion, you are free to stay in the national park or accompany us back to our office where the tour ends.
